10 YEAR REVIEW OF MUSCULOSKELETAL TISSUE BANKING IN
WA
We have reviewed
musculoskeletal tissue banking practices at the Perth Bone and Tissue Bank over
a ten-year period. This study presents the results of our microbiological
monitoring of donations and processing procedures, and postoperative surveys of
the implanted allografts.
Our data found
that the post-operative infection rate was relatively low for recipients of
allografts prepared at PBTB and provides assurance that musculoskeletal tissue
allotransplantation is a safe procedure when accompanied by high standards of
quality assurance.
