ATBF education or scholarship fund guidelines
Introduction
The ATBF is committed to the promotion of the on-going education of its membership; as such the sum of $5,000 AUD will be sequestered by ATBF each year for the purpose of providing financial assistance for attendance at a conference, course, symposium or workshop of relevance to tissue banking.
The ATBF Education/Scholarship Fund aims to provide the opportunity for staff of full members of the Forum to be assisted in attendance at a conference, course, symposium or workshop of relevance to tissue banking where they may not otherwise be able to attend.
Application
Applications should be submitted to the ATBF Education/Scholarship Sub-committee on the application form.
Applications should be received 60 days prior to the commencement of the event.
Each application will be evaluated on its individual merit according to the published guidelines, applications must be accompanied by:
- Copy of the event program
- Copy of the completed registration form
- Detailed budget including registration, accommodation and travel costs
- Statement of event relevance to tissue banking
- Letter of support of the member bank
- Details of any other approved funding or pending application for same
The Education/Scholarship Sub-committee may be particularly amenable to applicants who may be going to deliver an oral or poster presentation at the event.
Preference will be given to applications for funding where:
- The applicant has demonstrated commitment to the ATBF;
- The Employer supports the applicant by granting part funding and/or paid study leave to attend/participate;
- Co-funding (either from the Employer or other organisation) exists.
Each application for funding from the ATBF Scholarship Fund shall be reviewed by the ATBF Sub-committee prior to being forwarded to the ATBF Executive Committee for consideration.
Where the entire fund is not utilised within the 12-month period (Mar – Feb), the fund will be replenished to maintain the $5,000 AUD balance.
Eligibility
Application is open to staff of full members of the ATBF. Scholarship funding will be restricted to one employee per member per ATBF financial year (Mar – Feb).
Where an applicant has been a previous recipient of ATBF Scholarship funding, at least 2 years shall have elapsed since the time of the last grant.
General conditions
The object of the ATBF is to support as many applications for funding as possible. Preference will be given to applications from financial members or staff of financial members of the ATBF. It is preferable that applications for funding support be realistic.
A written report addressed to the Chairperson of the Education/Scholarship Sub-committee must be provided within 90 days of the event. The committee may request the applicant to provide an oral or poster presentation at the next ATBF Scientific Meeting.
